Understanding automatic settings on a digital camera
Apr 27, 2010 Lenses
Automatic functions are the core of a pocket Camera’s existence (thus the name, “point-and-shoot”), but maybe they don’t always do what you want them to do. Thus, it would be wise to understand what they do and what you can do to alter them.

Canon Camera 450D – Automatic?
Apr 8, 2010 Lenses
Here is the continuation of my D-SLR search – after the first attempt with the Olympus E520, which unfortunately failed.
The Canon Camera 450D has so far received excellent reviews everywhere, and with the larger APS-C sensor, the chance of sharp images were not really bad.
In short, the images were sharp in general.
However, they were in the “Full Auto” mode also wrong in principle exposed, mostly overexposed.
The white balance is, well, deplorable. This has been established even in principle, other testers and therefore recommend to always save images in “raw”.
This comes with a kit lens only just make more useful quality (color photo comparison: Canon EF-S 18-55 63 points, Olympus Zuiko 14-42 83 points!), A constant and insistent on-humping Blitz in Full Auto mode (in normal daylight, ISO 100, 1/250s, f / 8 ???), and unfortunately also a not always reliable (though, admittedly, extremely fast) AF.
Unfortunately, no upper limit set for the Auto ISO setting, so you are forced almost always pretend a fixed ISO value if you do not want to leave completely the Camera (also not a good idea).
All in all, the Canon Camera 450D the right camera for photographers who like to play around with the settings constantly. As a comparison: my old Contax I have a movie loaded (eg ISO 100), set the aperture (aperture priority . . . ), brought into focus and raised – that’s it.
With the Canon? Picture mode, white balance, exposure usually (-1), focus control trigger and pray. Then adjust and make the right image.
Is too complicated for me, so I send any good the Canon now also back to Amazon (sorry!) – A camera also needs time for “point and shoot” and provide not only usable images with intricate detail settings.
In addition, she is just too big and the image stabilizer in the lens is also a rather bad idea. Many Lenses have that is not usable, so the stability in the housing as in the Olympus E520 in general is already clearly better idea.
A pity really, I must therefore continue to shoot analog.
Canon Camera 450D – Excellent DSLR
Have I bought the Canon Camera 450D with the kit before 4 weeks and am very satisfied, but must say that this new to DSLR am. Unfortunately, when buying this kit’s no memory card here) (and the highest quality at such a product, and therefore only 4 stars. Battery performance can I find remarkable: 600 pictures and play around a lot “. ” Value for money this kit’s (Body Canon Camera 450D with EF-S 18-55 and EF-S 55-250) has convinced me. Can only recommend this camera
