How do I dispose of my broken camera lens?

I broke it when I let it knock against something :( and I got it replaced. It’s from a Canon Rebel E05. I’m pretty sure it can’t be fixed because the Part is inside the lens Part where it connects to the Camera. But I could be wrong, if I am, let me know that too Please?

Donate it to a camera repair station. They may be able to use some of its components and what is left over will be disposed of in an environmentally sound way

If it is the mount that is broken (where it attaches to the body of the camera), it can easily be repaired. Look on the web or in your phone book for camera repair or a locally owned camera store (not a big box chain). Give them a call and tell them what you have and what part is broken and I am sure that they could fix it or tell you who could. Broken mounts usually are not that expensive to fix- but I will add that if there is not a local repair shop, and the local store suggests sending it in to Canon directly- that Canon flat rates repairs. The local store may be able to send it in for you and not charge you for an estimate. But I would check the value of the lens before okaying an estimate from Canon as sometimes it is just cheaper to buy a new one if it is still needed.
